United States Land Steam Record Team
Welcome to the home of The U.S. Land Steam Record Team
The U.S. Land Steam Record (USLSR) Team will seek to become the fastest steam-powered vehicle on earth at the famous
Bonneville Salt Flats as early as August 2010.
Speed to beat is 148.308 mph set by Team Inspiration from Great Britain in August 2009.
Driver and car designer, Chuk Williams, has teamed up with engine developer Cyclone Power Technologies to build this modern steam-powered streamliner.
Be part of racing history and help us bring the Land Steam Record back to the United States!
Be part of an exciting green technology project!
Did you know that steam engines are cleaner than current automotive engines and can run on 100% biofuels?
Sponsorship is now available for the USLSR Vehicle
Current sponsor and project endorser includes:
Steam Automobile Club of America - the pre-eminent association of steam car
developers and enthusiasts.

The USLSR Team....
Chuk Williams is heading up the USLSR Team. He is designing and building the LSR Streamliner-with much assistance
from the other members of the Team-drawing on their collective expertise of several lifetimes of steam interests and
projects. Chuk brings his ability to "get it done" to the team, as well as his extensive background of involvement with
the design and construction of mechanical projects, including two steam cars.
Art Gardiner brings a lifetime of steam systems involvement to the USLSR project. He's a retired mechanical
engineer, with extensive experience in the aerospace, gas turbine, and diesel engine industries.
Jim Tangeman has been a designer and manufacturer of custom agricultural machinery for many years and also has
extensive experience in the design and construction of steam engines, steam boilers, and steam systems.
Ken Helmick's expertise lies in the machining and model-making fields, as well as having an encyclopedic knowledge
of steam systems and steam patents. Ken also has several years of experience in project management.
Roger Ulsky is a retired electrical engineer, and will be adding his expertise in analog and digital control
systems to the team. Roger has also designed and built several steam power plants for boats and vehicles.
Jerry Peoples is a retired NASA engineer with an impressive background in the aerospace industry. He has published
many papers relating to the theory and efficient use of steam power systems.
George Nutz is a retired research engineer, with a career at MIT in his resume. He was a part of the MIT team which
designed and built a steam-powered vehicle for Saab to participate in the Clean Air Car Race. George has published
quite a few papers pertaining to steam power systems.
James Crank is an engineer who retired from Lockheed, after a long career in the aerospace industry. Jim has
decades of experience with steam cars and steam power systems. He is also well known for building the Barber-Nichols Steam
vehicle, which set a Land Steam Record in 1985.
Harry Schoell and his team of advisors at Cyclone Power Technologies will also be lending their considerable
expertise and support to the USLSR project-as well as the use of their Mark 5 engine.
