Events for 2012
22 April 2012
South Hants Vehicle Preservation Society - 'Drive-it Day'
Following the success of this year's 'Drive-it Day' at Southsea, our club has been invited to join their event next year, along with other selected clubs. The organisers would like clubs to arrange their own
morning run in Hampshire, culminating in a 'meet-up' of all the clubs. The event is informal but there will be several optional distractions during the afternoon, and some informal awards.
There is no entry fee, but it is hoped entrants will purchase a programme, which will help fund the proceedings. Although the event is some time away yet, the organisers would appreciate an early indication of
whether we are interested in accepting the invitation.

15th Bedfordshire Classic Motor Show - Greenwood Exhibitions
We have been approached by Greenwood Exhibitions, who organise a variety of motor events throughout the year and who are keen for members of our club to
join in any of these. A message from organiser Stephen Smith to Basil Craske said "We have previously featured a steam vehicle as a part of our Knebworth show in the arena and it would be great if the club would like to join us.
Knebworth is historically our biggest show but as new owners of Greenwood Exhibitions we are also reviving some of the shows previously enjoyed by the general public - The
Festival of Transport at Barleylands on 7 and 8 July promises to be a great extravaganza and celebration of transport. With local car clubs already signed up to join us we expect
everything from steam engines to performance cars to be on display.
We are also launching a new "Brighton to Brooklands Run" for all vehicles registered before 1939 if any of your members are interested? I understand that it is a requirement for steam car owners attending events with steam boilers installed will be required to produce a current boiler certificate
to PSSR 2000 regulations - monotubes exempt."
All the events organised by Greenwood Exhibitions will be listed here on the Events page.

Motor Sport Festival at Loton Park, Shrewsbury
We have been contacted by the Competition Secretary of the Hagley and District Light Car Club, who saw some of our members' cars at the Prescott Hill Climb event in October 2011. They have
invited members to attend their charity event where they will be able to demonstrate and display their steam cars. Unfortunately we will not be able to take place in timed events as this is
not an official MSA competitive event. However, members of the public will be offered the opportunity to ride in the car of their choice in return for a contribution to the organisers' charity.
If you wish to take your vehicle to this event, please contact:

The "Cotswolds Tour"
The Nelsons will be 'on site' from Friday 20 July for this tour. The usual instructions apply, but for those who haven't been before and who wish to attend, accommodation can be found by an internet search in the
Chipping Norton area, Oxfordshire. There is plenty of accommodation available, and if you require 4 star, the Mill House Hotel at Kingham can be recommended (www.millhousehotel.co.uk)
Please make your own arrangements for accommodation. Parking for trailers and cars is available at the farm base (OX7 5UP) and also camping/caravan if you prefer. The usual format will be used, and during
our last trip there in October 2011 we found a couple of new "spots" to visit. We look forward to seeing you there. Regards, Les and Pat Nelson.

The VSCC Norfolk Tour
The following message was received from the organiser of next year's tour: Dear Mr Craske, it may have been you and your family in the c.1909 Stanley whom my daughter and I came across in Itteringham on the day of this year's VSCC Norfolk Tour, July 31st?
We were in my Ford Model A cabriolet, and stopped to watch you take on water and then set off, with Zoe being absolutely dumbfounded by the sight!
The 2012 Norfolk Tour is organised by myself and my team again, and scheduled for Saturday July 28th, with the start/finish at the home of Wing-Commander Ken Wallis.
If any of your club would like to enter we would be absolutely delighted to see you and your lovely cars; I know you're very active these days and saw many of you at the Prescott venue of the Bugattti Owners, "Flathead Challenge".
Best wishes, Nigel Stennett-Cox, North Walsham. E-mail: binroundabit@btinternet.com
