We are open to part sponsorship, and any ideas/solutions you may have to support such a tour
In August 2009 the British Steam Car Team smashed the 100 year-old land speed record for a steam powered
car. Principle driver Charles Burnett III broke the record with an average speed of 139.8mph on two runs
over a measured mile at Edwards Air Force Base California. In addition, test Driver Don Wales established
a new record for a measured kilometre – achieving an average speed of 148.166mph on two runs.
Both milestone events re-write the history books, and break the longest standing FIA land speed record
in history, previously set in 1906 by American, Fred Marriott. Between them drivers Charles Burnett III
and Don Wales set five speed records.
The car is currently being shipped back from America and will arrive back in the UK on 20th October. The
British Steam Car had demonstrated the best of British ingenuity and engineering on a world stage. Now
the team are looking for help to promote the vehicles engineering and it land speed successes.
The team hopes to secure transportation and sponsorship so that the vehicle and team can attend various
universities, TV appearances and motoring events to talk about the project and the technology envolved.
It has always been the team’s goal to inspire engineers of the future with an educational tour.
We require a 32-foot low loader trailer and assistance with expenses to accommodate the team members
throughout the tour. If you are able to help with any of the above we want to hear from you.
The team has been inundated with enquiries for the car to appear on shows like BBC Blue Peter, The
One Show, BBC Bang Goes the Theory, and GMTV through to parades in Christchurch, Cheltenham and
Manchester. Plus requests for the car to be displayed at the following shows: Race Retro, The
Classic Car Show, The British Leisure Show, The Autosport Show (engineering hall) and the Scottish
Science Festival to name but a few.
In return we would be able to provide a sponsor with numerous branding opportunities such as “Tour
sponsored by”
- Company branding/logos printed on all advertising display material and backdrops supporting the vehicle
- Presence on all show/trade stands the vehicle attends
- Livery on the vehicle transporter.
- Plus PR exposure on all media releases supporting the vehicles appearances and your company mission statement
- After the tour has been completed, the vehicle will reside as a permanent exhibit at Beaulieu Motor Museum with branding.
FYI - Our PR team have generated over 800 UK printed newspaper articles in the past month alone, plus national and
international broadcast media worth in excess of £600,000. Eventageous PR Ltd are also currently up for three
awards, therefore you can be safe in the knowledge that your brand would be safe in their capable hands.
I hope this is of interest to you, it would be great if we could organise a mutually convenient day/time to meet
you to discuss this further.
We are open to part sponsorship, and any ideas/solutions you may have to support such a tour
With all best wishes
