Planet Steam Power Units

Has anyone seen any of the Planet Steam Power units produced in England around 1950, possibly around Stockport, Cheshire. One was fitted to a 1940 Buick and several engines (systems?) were understood to have been built. A brochure illustration reproduced in The Steam Automobile later on shows a vehicle looking like a Post WW2 model.

The few reference books and lists of steam cars or makes that I have seem to have missed this vehicle.

Just wondering if it is a collection somewhere or what happened to it.

Graeme

Hi Graeme,

One of our members does have one of the Planet four cylinder radial steam engines and also a large amount of spares possible from another engine that was broken up.

He does have plans to install it into a chassis if the engine he is currently using does not perform as well as he is expecting.

Keep an eye on the magazine, as there is a possibility that it may all come on the market.

I have no record of a complete car fitted with one of these engines, maybe this post will promt further information.

Jeff.
