1900 locomobile waterpump failure

hello,

Can anyone help me with my cars waterpump problem. My ( ex Steven Theobald ) 1900 locomobile drives very well but i have to keep replacing the glands on the waterpump and i have to twist the nut on top of the pump almost every 3 miles. I use Klinger 49 gland. Does anyone has a idea what the problem can be ? Does anyone have a spare waterpump for sale ?

Best Regards

Hi Roel,
I remember seeing your pump apart at the Dorset Steam Fair. Am I right in thinking it has a groove in it, rather than a long hollow bit for packing? If so you could try using an o-ring, which I think your pump may have been re-made for. Hope this helps. Unfortunately, I don't know of a spare water pump about at the moment.
Best Wishes
George
