Festival of Steam Isle of Man 2017
As part of the Festival of Steam Isle of Man 2017 there will be a Steam
Car Tour taking place from 17th to 21st of April 2017. Steam car owners
are invited to take part in this event with their steam cars. This event
will be organised by The Isle of Man Motor Museum and will have no
connection to any club. A form will be developed for interested parties to
help with booking accommodation etc and the Steam Packet will discount the
cost of the crossing to ease the cost as much as is possible.
The Isle of Man Motor Museum are very interested in steam cars, having among their collection a Model H Stanley, three Whites, a Serpollet, a Turner Miesse and a 1925 Doble/Delage.
In addition to the Steam Car Tour, over Easter Weekend April 14th -17th,
there will be a a four-day celebration of Isle of Man Railways including on
Easter Monday (17th April) a day of photography on the Steam Railway.
Intensive services will operate on the Steam Railway during Saturday 15th
April and on the Manx Electric Railway on Sunday 16th April, plus Easter
Sunday (16th April) now includes the enduringly popular photography day on
the Steam Railway.
Then on April 20th - 23rd there will be a spectacular demonstration of heavy
steam haulage on Manx Roads during which three Fowler road Locos (Atlas, The
Duke of York and The Great North) will be pulling The Great Dorset Steam
Fair Twin Bogie Trailer and period Load over the Manx roads throughout the
north and south of the island.
Steam cars will be welcome at the railway and heavy haulage events as well as
the Tour - so ten days of steaming fun! Do the whole thing or just pick parts.
Entries have already been received from the USA and the Continent so if you are
interested please contact Chris Wedgwood at the Museum to receive further details and information as it becomes available.
