Steam car insurance costs

I've just been quoted £475 for fully comprehensive insurance of my Stanley Model 607 by a well known steam vehicle insurer - does this sound a lot?

Can anyone suggest any other insurance companies?

It sounds to much to me,mine is 300 but it depends on what value
you but on it.

Try Walker Midgley in sheffield, speak to Tony, tell hin i
have put you on to him good guy on steam.

Hope this helps.

I'm with Walker Midgley as well and they have a dedicated Steam Car Policy.

Mine is only £275, fully comp, boiler cover, road cover, public liability, any driver, covers any helpers and trailer cover. Tony is your man!

Thanks, they quoted me £430 over the phone - but I based my car's valuation on on the sister car for sale on the SCC website, which might explain the big difference.

Peter,

I have just been doing the rounds to insure my 1963 Barrett which is worth a lot less than your car. The lowest quote I got was Footman James - about 40% of the highest.
