It's kind of a hash - all Stanley mechanicals, factory seat and authentic hood, and the rest made up. More details here - [www.stanleyregister.net] . It's a nice evocation of a Model 62, but when you park it next to an authentic Stanley, the first thing that strikes you is how low the hood is compared to the fenders. Rolly Evans asked, "What is that thing, a Stanley Underslung?"

We decided to make the most of a lovely late summer afternoon yesterday by steaming over to the remains of the 15th century Baconsthorpe Castle, a 45 mile round trip in our Model 70.

We're just back from taking part in "Gerald's Run" in our Model 70 with about 15 cars from the North Norfolk Morris Minor Owner's Club. A club we belong to because we own "Windrush" the steam powered Morris 1000 pick-up truck.

It was an interesting run starting from the cafe at Wymondham's historic railway station, then a coffee stop at Langley Abbey polo club & lunch in the old watermill building in Loddon after which the rain started to come down in earnest. There was a hasty scramble to put the top us as we waited in line to cross the River Yare on the chain ferry at Reedham.

The 65 mile route finished at the organiser's little cottage where they managed to prise us all in AND feed us with tea & cakes. We were told that other cars found our steam trail a handy navigation aid as they could clearly see where the turns were, that's the first time anyone has said they were pleased to follow us in the rain!

Took Stanley 7644 to the first day of the Crofton Pumping Station end of season steam gala, and met up with Mike & Nancy Roach from the USA. Mike gave me a lot of very useful advice & tips, and we all had a good 9 mile run back to our home.

Another outing in Stanley #7644 thiis afternoon, over the Downs to Ramsbury Airfield so Dr Pat could have a test drive & I could practice reversing & 3 point turns.

We had a brilliant time at The Autumn Classic Prescott Speed Hill Climb at the weekend. There were 10 steam cars on display on Saturday and 9 on Sunday. So many people spoke to Basil and said that the steam cars were the highlight of the show for them. Every time Bob Dyke steamed up Whistling Billy he generated a huge crowd of admiring onlookers and it was a thrill to see him drive the car up the hill.

Basil did his 2 practice and 2 timed runs in the R in its stripped down race trim! He was disappointed with his times but the poor car wasn't happy performing with a cold engine and the track was very slippery due to the torrential rain on Friday and he had constant wheel spin problems. Again, he was in the Pre War class against cars 30 years younger and followed a 1936 V12 Bentley!

Wherever I stood in the crowd to see Basil do his runs there was always a wave of excitement and anticipation in the crowd around me, remarking "ooh, it's the steam car next!"

First time out with our Stanley this year saw us once again at Beamish Museum to attend the four day “Great Northern Steam Fair” event. An opportunity presented it’s self for me to take the attached photo - 1911 Stanley meets 1825 Rocket (well 1975 working replica of Rocket).

Our longest ever round trip with our Stanley today, 30 miles to the Roayal Oak pub at Bishopstone, Wiltshire & back for the Drive it day event. Car ran well with 2+ passengers climbing hills in fine style - except for repeated pilot problems alas.....PS the boiler insulation is temporary!

We took the Model K out for a drive yesterday to attend the Eastern Counties Vintage Tractor & Heritage Spectacular held at the showground on the outskirts of Norwich. Basil still hasn't fitted the windscreen to it which made the drive uncomfortable as the wind pressure and noise was very intense. However, the car ran like a dream, smooth and comfortable.

It was a wonderful day out. The sun shone all day, we and the other pre-1930 vehicles were parked inside a nice new building and there was plenty to see and great food to snack on.

We were pleasantly surprised to be parked next to 2 Panhard Levassors (1900 and 1903) and an 1897 Leon Bollie Tricar on one side and on our other the 1919 red Stanley 735 bought by Roger Desborough at Chefins auction last year. It had a new top (hood) and had been reupholstered. It wasn't in steam but Roger said he had steamed it up since buying it. Photos attached.
