Latest news!! Chuck Williams is heading a team who are to make an attempt on the 148.308mph Land Speed Record for steam cars, set by 'Team Inspiration' (The British Steam Car Team).

Looks like they are going to use the 'cyclone' rankine cycle engine - this is a direct water injection engine with the burner keeping the intake hot enough to flash the water into superheated steam as it enters the cylinder.

The attempt is to be made using the Cyclone engine which uses very high pressure and temperature steam. The Cyclone website refers to steam not water injection and there is no direct heating of the cylinder.
