Pump Valve Seats

All the ball valve seats on my Whites three pumps need to be replaced. I was going to use phosphor bronze but does anyone out there think that PTFE could be an alternative, would it stand up to the hammer?
I have used the same plastic balls in the Stanley for 8 years with no problems, ever.

The difficulty might be in fixing it into the valve seat so it doesn't get pounded out. Would you use a stainless ball or a PTFE ball with the ptfe seat.
