The problem about a 1914 Stanley operators manual as compared to today's manuals is that our presentation of ideas has changed a bit through the years. That makes the early 1900 writings hard to fully understand. The 1913 "Instructions for operating the Stanley Steam Car" is available in reprinted form through the SACA storeroom. It will get the basic ideas across of what is expected of the noncondensing operator, even an operator for a model 607 Stanley. An excellent in depth Stanley operator's manual that everyone should read is "Instructions for the Care and Operation of the Stanley Steam Car". Dated August 20, 1920, it is easy to follow the discussion and being of 48 pages in length, it covers about all the questions one would ever have about a condensing Stanley. It too should also be available from the SACA storeroom. Now that you think that you have a firm grasp after reading the fore-going information, purchase from the Stanley Museum, in Kingfield, Maine: "Stanley Dealer Bulletins" and also "Stanley Factory Correspondence". These will raise your understanding of the Stanley Steam Car to a whole new level. A great benefit from reading these items is that this is first hand information. Through the years, much information is lost or the information becomes corrupted from someone with a "better idea" repeating the information but in his version of the information.
