There’s a Steam car engine on Ebay.

Listed as a Stanley but I am sure it’s not.

Item number: 280709076555

Hi all, Here's the link. It looks like a product of Mason, who made steam engines for companies making steam cars.It has 2 1/2 inch bores and 3 1/2 inch strokes.
It appears to be missing the water pump and water pump bracket. George.

The steam chest cover says Mobile Posibly one of the Mason engines made for the Steam buggy rush of 1900?

Hi Marksteamnz, My Grandpa has a 1900 Mobile which has a Mason engine in it (which it has had from new) so your comment is almost certainly true. Infact when I saw this engine for sale, I had a quick look in the geneology of the Locomobile and this engine looks identical to engine No1,e.g the single crosshead guide per cylinder, produced by the Mason regulator co. The Mason's engine was designed by George Eli Whitney, the maker of the Whitney stem car. George.
