Engine Lubrication?

Why would my 1910 Stanley have engine rubbing noises if my oiler is working? I hear it when I pull away from a stop sign. After I drive 30 feet the noise stops?

Hi Tom.
Are you convinced it is the engine making the noise and not the brakes. The hand brake can cause the same type of noise if it has not got the right clearance.
