Hello

has anone any experience of using Kaowool Hardener (or similar) as an alternative to diplag to put a hard surface on ceramic paper insulation? Want to check this alternative out before ordering some rolls of diplag from the USA!

Peter

I think it is only what Granny used to refer to as "water glass" (look on Wikipedia) when she used it to preserve eggs! If you can find it (chemists?) you could try a small bit. I suspect you will find that although it does harden the ceramic paper it doesn't itself have any "body" to it to make a smooth surface. No doubt you could mix something else into it to get a creamy sort of brew which would make a better coating material.
