STANLEY OPEN 4 SEATER COFFIN NOSED 10hp E2 No 4459 OF 1909
This car will be sold in an advanced state of restoration with all parts present inc new baker type burner. It has new wooden wheels, tyres and tubes and new leather upholstery (at great expense using traditional methods, sprung with hessian backing etc with buttoning and pleating to the original design). The boiler is a brand new wire bound one built by Alan Kelso in the states to Stanley spec. Work left to complete is the plumbing. The engine runs well on air and appears to be sound. The back axle has new bearings and gears in it. Further work to wings and undercoating etc is envisaged prior to the sale. There is a file relating to a totally untouched E2 in the states with photos and measurements to refer to. HISTORY - This was a car dismantled for restoration in the 60's in America. The known previous owners are Alan Kelso, Gary Hoonsbeen and Bob Nydam all in the US. The ethos of restoration has been to retain every possible original part rather than replacing with new, the aim has been to have a smart old car not a new one.
