In Cawood, North Yorkshire located on the River Ouse between York and Selby we have a small show running.
We have three steam cars, a Stanley 740 which will be in steam for the first time, a Stanley 735 Limousine which is derelict and never seen in public before and a 1900 Locomobile.
Also attending will be the Ex Swiss Fowler Roller rolling hardcore all weekend and on Sunday and Monday an Aveling 8 tonner just brought in from Thailand which has never been to a show before.
The show is based around the village of Cawood and includes a farmers market, craft stands, steam model railway, bell ringers and a civil war society firing arrows around.
The show starts at 10.30 each morning and finishes at 5.00 pm and the total cost per person is only 3.50 with accompanied children under 16 being free.
Each day the Fowler and working steam car will be travelling between Cawood and its base near Thorpe Willoughby on the road.

Cawood was a Great show this year we had 5 steam cars there on Sunday including my derelict Stanley 735D, my Stanley 740B, Colin Mays 1900 Locomobile, a replica Locomobile and Mike Clarks 1907 H5. We also had my big ex Swiss Fowler rolling hardcore, Derelict Aveling and Porter roller "Thai Girl" made it there and back without too many bits dropping off. On top of this was Jeff Liddles tractor collection with some visitting tractors and an ever changing scene of old cars, along with the farmers market, craft demonstrations, model railway and civil war society.
As a small show that makes money for charities only we are gradually growing.
Around the steam engines we placed baskets to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and collected 177.
Next year we want to expand a bit more by having a threshing demonstration and on one day a mini steam car tour so we can get the cars out on the road.
Anyone interested in coming along next year for the mini steam car tour please contact me at ian.vintonrailconsultltd@virgin.net.

Had a nice day out with SCC member Chris Busk to help - a round trip of 97 miles. Got to within 3 miles of home without rain - sheltered under a tree for what looked like a long downpour so put waterproofs on and ran out of it a mile later! A careful check of fuel used showed about 12.5mpg including firing up.

Ian's 735 limo is ENORMOUSLY tall - a lot of work is needed but worth the effort.

The "Thai" roller is another story - the smoke box is exceedingly rusty between the front tube plate and the funnel - in fact it looks ready to split in two, a couple of goodly waves in the Suez Canal would have done it - brave chap Ian.

Mike
