Anone any idea what makeis the packing in the attache dphoto - its about 2.5mm square, white PTFE wrapped around a core, and does not come unravelled when cut (like most of the packing I have to hand - making it hard to repack valves!)

I would personally be very wary of of using PTFE packing with superheated steam. It tends to break down.

I've used a John Crane PTFE packing for every valve and pump that's not near steam. See [www.johncrane.com] . It doesn't have a core, but it only frays slightly on the ends when cut with a utility knife.
