I have bought simple Draper 45 degree pipe flaring tool to
do the flares for the new pilot tank and steam enema on our car.

However, after making a few trial flares on bits of scrap tube noticed that the
angle of flare seems slightly different to that on old and new the fittings I have.

I guess that as its all copper pipe small differences will pull up tight, but wanted to ask if others have come across this before going much further in case I needed to get a 37 degree or other angle flare tool instead!

Use you modern flaring tools. As you tighten up on your tubing nuts, the angles will correct themselves for a good fit.

I turned a new end to the correct angle to fit my flaring tool. Also don’t forget to anneal the tubing before and after flaring.

Thanks for your advice everyone; I made a 60 degree Stanley flare angle adapter to fit the Draper flaring tool - see [flic.kr] - and after a bit of practice managed to produce clean & straight flares.
