CONRAD STEAM CAR

Does anyone know the whereabouts of D.J.Scott, possibly of Bedfordshire, or the current owner of the 1900 Conrad steam car. The club has had an enquiry from the owner of a Conrad in the USA who would like to make contact with the owner of the UK car, or anyone else who knows anything about Conrad steam cars.
Please email me if you can help, Alun Griffiths, Club Secretary, hofren@hotmail.com

Hi Alun,
John Bentley's Oldtime steam cars book describes a Conrad model 65 Special of 1903. It used a 2 cylinder 6HP engine "enclosed in a metal hood, located amidship under the frame". It used a 20" boiler, producing superheated steam from 650 copper tubes at 160PSI;it had a 35 gallon water tank and an eight gallon petrol (gasoline) tank which fed a "patented pilot burner" as well as the main burner. It weighed 1,004 pounds with a 2 passenger panel seat. It appears Conrad commercials were used for Deliveries as well. Production began in April 1900 and ended in July 1903, with the company becoming bankrupt a month later. Per Nielsen has restored a Conrad for a museum so he may also be the man to contact.
Best Wishes
George
