I have been helping Richard Marriott commission his 740D after its 9 year re build by Richard. Following a few days work checking out the fuel, steam and water systems for leaks and rectifying bits and pieces, testing with air etc., the car was successfully steamed at low pressure on axle stands for about three hours the day before I went to Melle last week. Today Monday 11th May, the ‘Valentines Massacre’ car was test driven on the road for the first time in over 30 years. Another test drive tomorrow to get Richard a bit more confident with the foibles of Stanley’s then it’s back to Richards for fitting of windscreen, back seats, carpets etc. Should be in steam at Driffield if all goes well with registration etc.
