Anyone know where I can get hold of 3/8” x 20TPI UNS tsps, this is the thread on the band brake pins on my Stanley 607 and I need to tsp the new brake link to suit. Its the same TPI as 3/8” BSF but on a critical component I would prefer to use the correct thread form.

Thanks

Tracy Tools - first port of call for any threading kit.

Peter here is the size you want, towards the bottom of the page.

For soft metal like brass, or for just one or two threads in mild steel, carbon steel taps are OK and cheap, but long term, or for stronger steel like En8 or En 16, buy HSS taps and dies.

Thanks Mike, but unfortunately Tracy Tools do not have these taps and dies in stock.

Peter, I buy my 3/8" X 20 tpi taps and dies from Mc Master Carr. Find your tap at: [www.mcmaster.com]

Thanks SSsssteamer...managed to get a tap and die from China via ebay in the end for about $8 in the end, should be ok for a one (ot two at most) off job.
