Short video of Sally-Ann's Stanley in steam. (File size 1.29MB)

Having been taken to 'Stourpain' - The Great Dorset Steam Fair annually since she was just 4 months old by her parents who helped run the model Tent Sally-Ann got the steam bug early. Apprenticing herself to Mr Weeks and a 41/2 scale Burrell model at about 5years old Sally-Ann would annually fetch coal, water and generally get the sack on regular occasions! But by the time
she reached double figures she was steaming about single handed. Sally-Ann started saving for her dream steam machine when she was just 16 years old and has not missed a year at Stourpain since. Over the years the dream has altered a little in shape and size (generally getting smaller) till one year the infamous Eric Hughes arrived with 'Freddy'. Her mind was set  - this was
the steam dream that fitted the reality of being a 'girl', not having a load loader and needing a vehicle that she could at least lift the spare parts for!!

Sally-Ann loves her steam and is a regular at rallies in the south helping with a number of friends with their engines - so mad in fact she even took her Road Roller licence last month! Despite what they say about lady drivers she managed the emergency stop and reversing round a corner without flattening anything! - except the road.

The years have ticked by and work, high inflation and generally life had got in the way. After first joining the club some five years ago, and having the steam car web pages of the world programmed in to her favourites box, this finally paid off and on January 15th having spotted a little gem being advertised, out of the blue calling on the advice of Jeff Theobald her offer was accepted and the dream started turning into a reality.

The Steam Car Club of Great Britain caters for owners of steam cars old and new, and steam cycles. But you do not have to own a steam car. Perhaps you want one or are just interested in these vehicles or their further developments.
